Yep - me. The Administrator for Diplomacy Watch.
I've been around Diplomacy for a while now. I'm mostly an Extended Deadline (XD) player, usually on Playdiplomacy, but also on webDiplomacy and Backstabbr.
I publish The Diplomaticon, my Diplomacy blog, and Notes on a Napkin, my Dip zine.
I've written a book on Diplomacy, called "50 Tips for Playing Better Diplomacy", published through LeanPub, that you can buy for as little as $4.99 (although you'll want to pay more, of course ).
I run the Tournament_Diplomacy Reddit and I'm the current Tournament Director for the 2022 Online Diplomacy Championship (ODC IV).
I started this forum, Diplomacy Watch, to collect all the information people might need to participate in championship Diplomacy - events, tournaments, leagues, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love regular games too, but there's something a little more about playing more competitively. By the way, I've called this "championship" Diplomacy because nothing fits better: I once called it "professional" Dip but, as someone pointed out, nobody gets paid; and you can't call it "competitive" Dip because every game of Dip should be competitive, even the friendly ones!
Am I any good? I'm OK. I'm not going to set the world alight, I have to say. But I enjoy it and I can be pretty ruthless, which means I take risks... and we're back to being adequate rather than good.
If you want to, I'm on Twitter as @thediplomaticon. I waffle about a lot there.
I hope you find Diplomacy Watch useful and, if you read the blog and zine that you enjoy them. I'm always looking for new writers for Napkin!
